Don’t be deceived by philosophical materialism. AI will never be conscious. It’s the pure fantasy of a distorted understanding of consciousness. All fantasies that AI will become conscious remain unsupported by any science we know. The emergent brain hypothesis of consciousness is unsupported science, and specific theories arsing from it such as integrated information theory (IIT) are unsupported theories. An unsupported theory means it is based in conjecture, not actual scientific evidence. The whole conjecture that AI will become conscious is a craze of our current computer era. Computers can beat us a chess, therefore they can become conscious. Right. Computers can have a soul. Right. These are fantasies of materialism. These are science fiction.

Science doesn’t know what consciousness even is, let know how computers can become conscious. That’s a fact. I can prove it by asking for the evidence. There is none. The fantasy the computers will become conscious is an easy sell because of the widespread influence of scientific materialism. I believe scientific materialism will eventually die out as we understand more about consciousness and absorb the lessons of relativity and quantum theory as they replace the classical physics of matter as we knew it in the past. We can no longer say that everything is made of matter. We don’t actually know what the universe is made of.

AI craziness is widespread because scientific materialism is not yet dead. This is shown in fact that we are obsessed with asking when AI will become conscious. This questions has been asked hundreds of times in hundreds of different ways before on Quora, as shown in the following:

Will human consciousness ever be transferable to a new body or a machine (e.g. a robot, cyborg, computer, or avatar)? Can you transfer your ow…

In how many years will computers become self-aware?

… and on and on and on and on, etc., etc, etc. It’s the same silly question.

If you think you can refute my answer please provide supporting evidence only. It is not enough to cite conjecture, speculation, beliefs, or even alleged authorities like Elon Musk, Ray Kurzweil, Bill Gates, Stephen Hawking, etc., who are in the business of scientific materialism. Only hard scientific evidence, please.
